A Message from the Mayor

Welcome to Regina!

If you are new to the City of Regina, or looking for a new place to call home, you will find that Regina offers everything you and your family need for a happy, safe and productive life.

Regina is a vibrant city with a population of more than 215,000. Our population has grown by nearly 20% in less than a decade, the majority of that growth coming via immigration. The city’s generous spirit is infectious and its residents are known for being welcoming and friendly. Though the City continues to expand, it maintains its warm, small-town charm and hospitality, while also offering many of the benefits enjoyed by larger metropolitan centres. In our community, you can live a life to be envied with short commute times, affordable housing, and educational opportunities at the University of Regina and Saskatchewan Polytechnic, our technical college.

Regina boasts a strong business economy with the lowest unemployment rate in Canada. Combined with a labour shortage and the great variety of industries that are booming in Regina, this means an abundance of diverse career opportunities. Industries in Regina, include agricultural; government services; metal manufacturing and fabrication; oil and natural gas exploration and production; potash and nitrogen fertilizer production; telecommunications; film and video production; insurance, financial and data management services; and the retail and service industry. This wide array of active industries ensure that whatever your experience, educational background or ability, there is a career awaiting you in our city.

Regina is fortunate to live in a climate that boasts four distinct seasons. White, snowy winters are embraced by Regina residents as they partake in an array of outdoor winter activities such as ice skating and hockey, sledding, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing, to name only a few. Our city’s numerous parks and outdoor pools are also put to good use in the summer as residents enjoy warm temperatures and sunshine. Residents and tourists also look forward to the many cultural, musical, theatrical and artistic events that are hosted in Regina annually.

There is no shortage of things to do for those who prefer indoor activities. There is always an opportunity to attend a play or musical performance at one of our many entertainment venues. Additionally, Regina is home to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and features attractions such as the Saskatchewan Science Centre, the Kramer IMAX theatre, Casino Regina, RCMP Heritage Centre, Government House, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, Evraz Place and Wascana Centre. We also have many unique shops and fine restaurants, and a bustling and attractive downtown.
